Transforming Ramsey's nursery has been quite a project!
- The oak cabinetry that lined the walls was removed and hung in the garage (then stained and added hardware).
- The old linoleum that was once glued to the slab floor was peeled up (oh what a "fun" project THAT was!).
- The ceiling tiles were removed.
- All of the electrical at counter height was moved down to floor height.
- A new drywall ceiling was installed and walls were patched and skim-coated.
- New pot lights were installed in the ceiling.
- New carpet was installed.
- A closet was built out.
- A new door was stained and hung.
- New crown molding and base molding was installed.
- All of the furniture that we used was sanded, primed, and four coats of cherry red lacquer paint was applied.
- THEN... then, we got to paint the walls and decorate!
Vintage airplanes is the theme for Ramsey's room. Above his crib is a canvas of a WWII British Spitfire plane, his bedding is in patriotic colors with WWI biplanes and WWII fighters, and he's got model airplanes on his shelves, more being added as he grows.
Also, we're going to hang pictures of all of Ramsey's loved ones on the walls so he's surrounded by friendly faces. We'll have to acquire pictures of them with Ramsey at future family functions.
We hope little Ramsey will love his bedroom for years to come!
