Connor's Fall Musical Concert

Connor has acclimated to his new public school environment very well.  Last night, we went to watch him and his fellow middle-school classmates perform at the annual Fall concert.  It was a "dark and spooky" theme for Halloween, with many musical pieces such as The Addams Family, that fit right into the guise.

Many of the kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes.  Connor went in all-black and had a fun little mustache.  (...might be a good look for him when he's older!)

Connor plays in the "first chair" French horn position this year in the 7th Grade Band (he's really improving and doing well!).  The 6th Grade Band, the orchestras, and choir all performed and sounded great.

One of the band's pieces was called "Pirates of the Barnaby Coast".   For weeks, the kids had put a fun little spin on the theme song, made up a little story that eventually evolved into a play.  They performed their play, calling it "Peanut Butter Pirates of the Buttery Toast".  It was a clever and entertaining saga of bagels, toast, and peanut butter, duking it out!  Connor played a battling bagel (but was defeated).  I wish we could have gotten a better/closer picture of him in his costumer!  Argh!

GREAT JOB CONNOR!!!

While the bands and orchestras played and the choir sang, Ramsey sat on Nana's and Bumpa's laps so nicely.  He's a music-lover by nature and enjoyed the show.

Maybe he'll be the third Duven to be a rockin' French horn player...!?!

Movin' and Shakin'

Ramsey took a few steps on his own (back in mid-September - of course, none of which we got on camera), but he hasn't quite taken the plunge to go off on his own completely yet.   Having just turned 9 months old on the 24th, he continues to pull himself up onto furniture and walk, stand up (without the aid of furniture), squat, etc.  When Eric encourages him to take more steps, he typically just gets so excited, he ends up jumping instead.

October Puppy Work-Out

It's been an exceptionally nice October, so continued bird dog work-outs have been successful with Riggs!

Here are the boys throwing the duck atop the hill near the point.

Connor thought it would be fun to retrieve too!

Riggsy is a little faster than Connor... must be the two extra legs.  :-)
Ramsey just hung out the entire time, watching.

A Nice Place to Take a Load Off....

A sweet little photo opp here....

While Ramsey watches his favorite YouTube show "Wheels on the Bus" (so Nana Karen can get a bite for lunch), Riggs finds a nice spot to hang out.

During the show, Ramsey gets soooo excited, jumping up and down enthusiastically and giggling like mad.  Riggsy, during that time, gets smushed, but stays there and continues to guard his little buddy.  Awww.

Puddin' Faces

For the last month or so, Ramsey has been mastering the art of using a spoon.  He's getting so independent that he's been known to throw a little hissy fit when one of us tries to take his lovely utensil from him!

Eric's been dying for Ramsey to try pudding.  I made a batch for the boys and here they are pigging out.  Of course, Connor is a clean kid while chowing down.  Ramsey starts out that way, but things get messy.... fast!

Connor later decided that it's way more fun to be a little piggy alongside his Little Brubby.

A Cool Quote....
