Darth Vader Doesn't Wear Underpants

A rather humorous title for a new blog post, eh?!?   These are not my words or thoughts, they are Ramsey's.   At least, my interpretation of his words: "Darf Vader no wear unnapats".

Yes, yes, every child is different and unique and every new milestone has a different pathway.  We're still working on his potty-training.  He goes just fine in the potty, but won't tell us when he needs to go.    There lies the problem.

During a session with Ramsey's occ therapist today, we discussed his progress, the woes, trials and tribulations, etc.  Since he HATES his super duper cool Paw Patrol training pants and wicked awesome R2-D2 big boy underwear (and his pull-ups, for that matter), she had an idea: Put his underwear on his beloved 31" Star Wars guys.  Hmmm... what a novel idea!  He's going to hate it!  (But hopefully, he'll be desensitized to these horrible wears of the "Under"world.)

And, hate it, he did.  Karen and I put the big boy undergear on the figures.  Ramsey pointed at them and cried, "Noooooooo, noooo!", pulling them down and trying to get them off.   We did this for a few more minutes.   Poor kid.  But, at least he was getting the idea that he didn't have to wear them... at least, not right now.

We took them off and let him "relax" a little.  When he was on the potty chair, after Karen left, I put the undies back on Darth Vader and the stormtrooper.
Ramsey saw this and again, had to try to get them off.  He struggled!
And, he struggled.  He started looking rather forlorn and beaten. :-(
I managed to get a quick smile out of him!
And then, Riggs came to console him.
He's given up... for now... and is happily playing with his Star Wars Galactic Heroes.  Phase I of Desensitization... complete?  We'll see.  ;-)
