We hadn't seen Grandpa Mike for a looooong time (too long!). Ramsey and I made the trip on Friday after work.
We had a little hiccup on our way (my cell phone decided it was going to quit taking/receiving calls) - "First World Problems"!
But, we got there safely and got lots of hugs and talk time that evening. We sat and ate supper and Ramsey informed Grandpa about all of the things he'd been doing lately and how he was starting school soon.
Ramsey eagerly showed Grandpa Mike his Kindle games (mainly Minecraft). Grandpa Mike got out the old photo books, Grandma Rose's journal, and some other things that I went through, asking questions here and there about this person and that.
On Saturday, we visited more and took a trip to the park by the river. It was a beautiful setting. Thankfully, we found a nice cool spot under some trees with a bit of a breeze.
More Minecraft. ;-) Ramsey was telling Grandpa Mike all about "obsidian", a volcanic glass. Grandpa Mike was a geologic engineer and knows all about rocks. He was rather impressed that a 4-year-old knew what that even was! Ramsey proceeded to talk to him about mining for iron with pick-axes, diamonds, etc.
Ramsey and I had really nice trip. Ramsey said he didn't want to leave and wanted to stay! I assured him we'd be going there more often to see him.
