Too Many BIG Walleye... What a Problem to Have!

Recently, Eric took another happy hiatus after work and road-tripped trip to Location X in anticipation of bringing home a stringer of walleye for supper.

He fished for a few hours, but what luck, all he could catch were BIG walleye!  He caught a number of 23" and 24"+ walleye, but when the state regulations state that you can only catch ONE over 20" and the rest (up to three) must be 15"-20"... well, then we have a "problem".

He kept catching and releasing large walleye, so he had the opportunity to take pictures while he was fishing!
At the end of the day, he didn't catch any slot fish and came home with one 24" mama walleye, still chock full of eggs.  He remarked that he would have stayed longer if Connor or I was with him; we would have had so much fun reeling in mongo-sized fish!   Too bad work and school got in the way!  Darn!
Eric sarcastically joked that if we were in North Dakota, he could have brought home five over 20".  Demographics.  Hmph.
But, an afternoon of catching plentiful walleye is not a bad time and we're grateful to have the fish in the freezer for another day.

"Reel" Fun Times

It's been extremely windy, cloudy, rainy, and chilly here this past week.  But, Sunday, the sun came out and we thought we'd try our luck from the dock and do a little fishing.

Daddy let Ramsey have the fishing pole to see if he could reel in a fish.  He caught on how to use the rod and reel, but, alas, he didn't have any luck.

The wind came up and there weren't any bites, so we called it quits after a short time.   But, with the smiles on Ramsey and Daddy's faces, I think we have another future fisherman in the family!

Minecraft Mania - Toddler Style

Now that Big Brubby Connor has showed Ramsey the game of Minecraft, our little toddler loves it!  It's amazing to watch him play it, mining for ores, find animals for food, and whatever else they do on that game!!  His little mind is like a sponge.  He learns things so quickly.

Here he is with Riggs, chilling out, gaming.
And here's a quick video of his gaming "techniques".    Sorry, it's a little jittery, "Blair Witch" style.  Eesh.

8th Grade Music Contest

Typically, the music festival/concert is held about an hour away.   This year, we were lucky enough for it to be at Connor's middle school!
It was a very well-organized event this year.

Connor played with the entire band in the morning and then played an accompanied solo piece right after lunch.   I was told that we weren't supposed to take pictures or videos (so I didn't!), but one of our friends took one anyhow!   I'm so glad that she did!

Oddly, her son Jared (who has been one of Connor's best friends since Kindergarten - they go to different schools now) also plays the French horn and he played just shortly after Connor.

Connor scored a 2+.   He did a great job (he hit his high G).  We are so proud of him!

Mr. Personality

This kid definitely has personality.   He'll be a handful!

Head-bangin' to a favorite YouTube Vlogger (Super Smash Brothers song):

And, my personal favorite... Ramsey wanting to duel Daddy with light sabers:

Minecraft... a Great Place to Run Over Cows

Connor recently got back into Minecraft recently again; the craze continues!  In the video below, he has Ramsey on his lap while playing the popular game.   They're laughing and having some good brotherly time.
Apparently running over cattle in the land of Minecraft is quite entertaining!

Success at Location X

Knowing that Wednesday was going to be the ONLY non-windy and warm day for the next ten days (or so said Mr. Weatherman), Connor and Eric took off for their fishing hole after Connor got out of school.

Success!  Here are the rewards after only a few hours of fishing (aside, of course, of spending "quality time" together!):

They didn't keep the northern, only the walleye.
Eric said that when Connor was reeling in the big northern, he was smiling like a Cheshire cat ("when most fisherman just smile on the inside").   He then noted that it's the same smile Connor wears when he is at the dump, unloading garbage!!  lol  (No joke, he thinks that is fun!!!)
