Museum Fall Festival

Ramsey and I had such a fun time at the Dacotah Prairie Fall Festival last year that we had to do it again this year.   We had a soccer game at 9-10AM, checked out a new local store in town, then made our way uptown for the festivities.

They had live music, pumpkin-painting (the lines were LONG so we forewent that idea), various games and fun kiddo activities, etc.

And, we couldn't be at the museum without going through it again!

Ramsey liked the toy railroad set-up on the first floor.  Seeing this provoked a good conversation on the way home about the Industrial Revolution!
A mozaic quilt puzzle was in the pioneer area.
Mr. Buffalo is always fun to see in that area also.
I have no idea what was going on with my hair here.  I do know, however, that Ramsey filled my purse so full of his stuff (water bottle, etc) that I could no longer close it.
Then off to the animal taxidermy area with an elephant, giraffe, polar bear, lion, water buffalo, cheetah, zebra, tiger, and more.
On the second floor, we found the WWI and WWII displays.  Ramsey loves world war history, so this was among his favorites.
Ramsey was obsessed when he saw all of these old guns.  He wanted to take them ALL home!
The second floor is also where they have the kids' pioneer village, with the general store, play house, play garden, covered wagon, and story area.
I think we got there too early, as there weren't any other kids upstairs playing yet.  The last time we were here, Ramsey played with other kids for probably an hour before I could peel him away!  No such luck today.
We went back outside to play some games.  There were quite a few lines and Ramsey wasn't interested in waiting very long. Plus, we forgot to grab his tennies and he was stuck walking around in his soccer cleats.  His feet were getting sore, so we played a few, but didn't make the rounds to all of them.
The sling shot was a definite "must do" though.  I wanted to get in there and shoot one!
We got one last free sugar cookie to go and had our picture taking before leaving for the day.  It was just starting to sprinkle, so our timing wasn't too bad.    Until next year, museum festival!
