A Tough December, COVID-Style

It's been a little bit of a rough December.  Since the 10th, we've pretty much all been in quarantine, due to "The 'VID".   Ugh.   We had gotten lucky thus far and not contracted it (at least we hadn't had confirmed positive test results).  I guess it wasn't "if" but "when".  And, when happens to be now.

Eric tested positive on the 10th (mine was negative).  My confirmed-positive test was the 15th, Ramsey's was negative.  Ramsey started having cold-like symptoms on the 15th, with other mild symptoms a few days prior.   Connor's staying at arms-length (or farther!) for the most part.  Hopefully he doesn't contract the virus.

So, there's two sides to this... First, the symptoms are not as hellacious as we thought it'd be (perhaps that was due to the vaccination).  The loss of taste and smell is strange, to say the very least.   Because we're not in the hospital on ventilators, we are very thankful and blessed indeed!

On the other hand, when Facebook "reminders" keep popping up on devices, letting us know all of the amazing Christmas events we're missing, it makes us so sad!  December is usually a FULL and amazingly magical month, going to various events; seeing Santa, cookie walks, tree lightings, special sales for Christmas goodies, public kids' parties with games and fun, plus the living nativity and Christmas Eve church services.  To say we're bummed is a massive understatement, especially because we missed all of these things last year (because they didn't even HAVE them last year, due to COVID).

Another huge kicker... we'll be quarantining through Christmas, not seeing our extended family (no need getting our higher-risk family members sick with this garbage).   To top it off, I was supposed to take Mom in for her [long-awaited] first cataract surgery, but that had to be pushed off again.   (Too bad, as she REALLY needed this done - had been waiting since just before COVID hit in 2020.)  Ok...  whining whining whining.   Enough whining!

Even though my phone is blowing up with notifications of the great things we're missing and we're having to forego [actual] Christmas with extended family, we're instead trying to focus back to the positive things:  we are together, not in the hospital, or even worse off than that.   We'll be able to see everyone after Christmas for a family get-together.  And, there's always next year for December activities.

In the meantime, we're well enough to start putting together the gingerbread house.  And, with the lack of energy, we're getting a lot of holiday movie-watching in.  :-)    Ramsey and I watched "Miracle on 34th Street" last night (Ramsey's first time).   And, we've watched Frosty, Rudolph, Little Drummer Boy, and other vintage Christmas classics.

Yup... no make-up pale COVID face.  Delightful.   Ramsey still looks adorable!!!  HAHA!

We'll get through this!   We wish everyone a very MERRY Christmas!  Stay safe and well.  Our love to all!
