Angel Tree Giving

Every year, I LOVE giving to the Salvation Army Angel Tree.  Usually, when I'm at Walmart (or where ever, shopping before Christmas) alone, I read some of the cards on the Angel Tree and go shopping for a little boy or girl.  And, that makes my heart happy.  :-)

This year, I decided Ramsey should go with me.  He can learn why Christmas is such a special time and what wonderful things we can do for others.   After church, we went to Walmart and found the Angel Tree, right inside the main entry door.

I explained to Ramsey what the Angel Tree is.  He then proceeded to read most all of the Angel Cards on the tree.  We probably stood at that tree for a half an hour.

Then, Ramsey chose two cards; one was for "the Gift of Warmth" and the other was a general gift to give a toy or something special.

The first card was for a little boy, age 10, whose favorite color is blue.  He loves Legos, Minecraft, Nintendo, and books.  Ramsey picked out two Lego Minecraft sets, absolutely tickled that he was able to combine two of this little boy's loves.

The second card was for a little boy, just a year younger than Ramsey, whose favorite color was blue and who needed warm clothes for outside.
Again, Ramsey was SO PROUD that we found this little boy a hat, snowpants, and boots in his most favorite color, plus some nice warm winter gloves.  Ramsey thought the "Gift of Warmth" was the most important gift - because it "is a need more than a want".  And, because this little boy can go outside for recess now and play!
On the way home, I was filled with pride that my little guy was learning to love giving to others too, especially those who may not be as fortunate.  He rattled on and on about how he found the perfect gifts... and how his heart was just "oh so happy".   ...makes me tear up just thinking about this again.

For the future: Ramsey... remember a day like today, when you're older and reading this in our printed-out blog book...  Remember what Christmas is all about.  Maybe you and Connor will make this a tradition when you're older and have families of your own.  I hope you do.     Love you!
