Among the myriad little things we're doing this year, Ramsey's getting his own tree for his bedroom. Last week, we took a few hours for more advent activities; decorating his tree and also making ornaments for his preschool and Sunday School teachers.
We had some mini battery-powered lights leftover from a previous Christmas project. They were the perfect size/length. And Ramsey's ornaments were adorable after he placed them on the tree. We may need to buy a mini star or angel next year for it!We also made Christmas cookies for Ramsey's preschool class, since he was to be the "leader" the next day. Kids get to take snacks for the class. We rolled out sugar cookie dough in shapes of snowmen (they turned out looking more like little old lady snowwomen with pink fuzzy church hats!) and Christmas trees.
Not to have a minute to spare that evening, we finished a few more ornaments we'd started for his teachers. I had found vintage sheet music for O Little Town of Bethlehem, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, etc, to use as the backdrop. Vintage Christmas angels and nativity scenes topped them off.
A new idea this year was a patriotic ornament, which we may end up keeping for our tree. We'll see! It has angels with American flags and Santa Claus/Uncle Sam putting up a Christmas tree, on the backdrop of The Star Spangled Banner sheet music. (And glitter - LOTS and lots of glitter!)
And, I made a few for Eric that may be on the blog later (ssshhhh, Christmas gifts - but he actually walked in, in the midst of making them!).
Ramsey added them to our tree, in addition to some of the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments we'd made earlier this month.
